Spindle's End is a book by Robin McKinley. It is a retelling of the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty, with the cursed infant princess actually being taken away (rescued) from the palace on the day of the celebration. She is raised and looked after in a rural village by two fairies, but does not know her own identity until she reaches age 20. -PLOT SPOILER- However, amid the plot to defeat the evil fairy, the truth never really comes out....
