Spin Out (Ride)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Spin Out is a claw type of ride. The claw has seats, and is attached to an arm. This claw does every motion possible. It spins 360 degrees while even actually rotating upside-down. When it goes upside-down, you can really feel the G's the ride possesses. There is also a turntable underneath the ride that also turns in the opposite direction.

The ride has six rows of four seats each. This means that there are 24 seats all together. There is a button in the middle of the ride in which the carnival worker will lock all the seats. For the most part, it is a carnival ride. However, it is at some amusement parks.

[edit] Spin Out's Theme

The theme is of course of a race car going out of control as the back sign would apply. Usually, there is a car spinning out in the background with a race car driver, or a race car girl. However, I have seen Spin Outs themed differently. One is themed to El Nino (Destruction), another is called Malestrom at Morey's Pier, and another is called Dragon's Claw at Adventureland.

[edit] Manufacturer

The manufacturer of this ride is Tivoli along with KMG. The ride in the US is sold through Amtech. They act as a representative for Tivoli. They sell Spin Outs, and other rides. KMG has come up with a ride called Move It. It's basically the same ride though, and the same technical specs. They just made it have a different name as it's a Netherlands Company.

If you go on a KMG ride, you will see that this ride has the same harnesses. They are over the head harnesses. The seats are very comfortable considering that your back of your knee doesn't go into the seat.

[edit] Problems

Spin Out does have some problems with it's mechanical engineering however. I know that it does have some wiring issues with the seats. The other big one is the main bearing for the ride breaks, and they have to buy a new one which costs a lot of money.

[edit] Ride Cost

How much does a used ride go for? You would be pretty surprised about how much money one of these rides cost. I saw a used ride going for around $400,000. This ride is pretty expensive, but it is extremely awesome.

[edit] Similar Ride

There is another ride just like this ride called the Top Star Tour. I haven't been on it, but I imagine that it is very fun to go on. The difference is that it holds a lot more people.
