Spider-Otoko (aka Spiderman aka Kumu otoko) was a villain in the television show Kamen Rider.

Spider-Otoko was the first mutant villain (or kaijin) to appear in the Kamen Rider series.
First appearing in Episode 1, "Mysterious Spiderman," Spider-Otoko was responsible for the capture of Takeshi Hongo, who would later become Kamen Rider 1. He would also ultimately be responsible for the death of Professor Midorikawa, which would have repercussions due to the fact his daughter, Ruriko, had witnessed the killing and wrongly blamed Hongo for it. Utimately, Spider-Otoko would be defeated by Kamen Rider 1 via his first ever use of the "Rider Kick". He was also seen as a part of the Monster Army led by Tokageron in Episode 13, "Lizardron and the Big Monster Army," and was killed along with the rest of the group.

Spider-Otoko also appeared in the first of two theatrical movies, Kamen Rider vs. Shocker. He would also appear in (via a different form) Kamen Rider the First as one of Shocker's assassins, again done in by Kamen Rider 1's "Rider Kick."

In his original television appearance, he showed heightened strength and agility; the ablity to shoot out powerful strands of webbing; and shoot poison darts from his mouth that would kill then disintegrate his victims. In his appearance on Kamen Rider the First, he showed similar abilities with exception to the poison darts.

Spider-Otoko has set a kind of standard in the Kamen Rider Series. Many of the series feature a spider monster as either the first monster. Others also have the spider monster as a prominent villian.
