Spherion -- headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida -- provides services in the human resources industry, specializing in temporary and direct-hire placement of a wide range of professions e.g. clerical, administration, technology, accounting and finance. They offer placement and research services for both those seeking employment and the businesses needing expanded personnel.
Spherion has been in the recruiting industry for over 60 years, placing people in job opportunities in a range of domestic and international companies. The founder, Leroy Dettman of Chicago, was first inspired to build the company when reconginizing a need to connect freight labor professionals to Chicago businesses needing support through a contingent labor force.
Dettman's initiative was effective -- first starting under the company name "City Car Unloaders". He recognized the asset of contingent labor to other industries and swiftly expanded services to include all levels of administration.
Currently, Spherion has over 700 offices worldwide trading on the NYSE: SFN
