this is the best-known of the SF2 variants, with a twelve character fighter roster and overhauled game engine. The one and only original which spawned a ton of ripoffs and imitators, although only a few (Mortal Kombat, Tekken, etc) came close to duplicating its success.

[edit] Description
Most everyone familiar with electronic games has heard of Street Fighter II - the most famous beat-em-up series ever. Basically you get a bunch of fighters together (12 in this case) and get them to punch, kick, bite and thump the bejesus out of each other then you're close.
Here yet another slightly different version of the game turns up - this time on the Genesis. Special Champion Edition is similar in most respects to the original Street Fighter II (which never turned up on the Genesis anyway) except that all 12 characters are playable (the boss characters in the original were non-playable) and the game engine has been revamped.
[edit] Impressions
A great game, but it is showing its age. Besides, Super Steet Fighter 2 renders [all previous entries] obsolete.
Some actually prefer the C.E./Turbo editions over Super Street Fighter 2, due to the more modest feel and unaltered combo system.
[edit] Trivia
- This version for Genesis has re-worked sounds and voices if you compare it to the SNES version, with less colors, but it was a lot faster on turbo mode because the Genesis was twice the speed than the SNES, giving you the fastest turbo gameplay that will make you hurl.
- The original Street Fighter 2 (aka Street Fighter 2 - The World Warrior) was apparently not released for the G/MD.
