Sperry Top-Sider

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sperry Top-Siders are a brand of boat shoes.

[edit] About

Sperry Top-Sider is owned by the Stride Rite Corporation. They are advertised with the slogan "Get-Wet", and feature non-slip soles. Students at many colleges around the United States can be seen wearing Sperry footwear.

Sperry stands out in its invention of the non-slip traction sole, when founder Paul Sperry began making shoes with a process known as siping. By razor cutting herringbone and other patterns into the durable rubber soles of their shoes, Sperry created a virtually non-skid sole. The trademark feature however, is that the sole is white, making it suitable for use on boats, since it is non-marking.
