Speed Modelling Contest
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Speed Modelling Contests (SMC for short) are competitions using 3D computer graphics software. Artists gather together and decide on a topic and a time limit and create 3d models in the allotted time limit. Although the spirit of the contest is to have fun, and improve your skill with 3d graphics, the outcome of the contest is often voted on to determine a winner.
One of the most active SMC communities is #smc channel on the IRC server freenode (irc.freenode.net). The artists in this channel use the open source 3d software Blender (software), so anyone can compete, regardless of platform or the desire to purchase expensive 3d design software. The results of these competitions are posted on the BlenderArtists Speed Modelling Forum
