IMDb profile |
Species III is a 2004 direct to video follow-up to the 1995 science fiction movie Species, and its 1998 sequel Species II. It was directed by Brad Turner and stars Sunny Mabrey, Robin Dunne, and Amelia Cooke. Its US broadcast premiere was on the Sci-Fi Channel.
[edit] Plot Summary
Being a direct to video sequel to the two previous films, the only thing connecting this and the original films is a brief cameo from Natasha Henstridge at the start, in which she mostly plays a corpse. The quality of the film compared to the other two warrants the fact that it was direct to video, although it makes a valiant attempt at furthering the story of the first two films.
[edit] Sequel
A third sequel is in talks with Nick Lyon expected to be directing the new installment, due out in 2007. Ben Ripley is back on board again to write the script.
1902 (???), the sign shown on the bridge on the very last shot of the film has not been explained, thus Species IV is in the pipeline according to director Brad Turner. It is not known whether Sunny Mabrey, Robin Dunne, or J.P Pitoc will return.
The fourth installment of the Species franchise continues in Mexico, where new experiments with DNA bring horrific results. An MGM/360 Production, Frank Mancuso, Jr. will oversee production beginning in October 2006 on "Species IV". Mancuso has served as Producer on the previous "Species" movies, and as Executive Producer on this direct-to-DVD sequel.
