[edit] Graphic Novel
Name: Batman: The Killing Joke.
Writor: Alan Moore.
Artist: Brian Bolland.
Publisher: DC Comics.
Year: 1988.
Description: The Joker, who recently escaped from Arkham Asylum, captures Commissioner Gordan & seeks to drive him insane inside an empty carnival. He intends to prove that even the most stable of people can turn insane, as the Joker once did. This comics is a one off that pits Batman against the Joker in a psychological battle.
Review: You wont find a better Joker comic book like this anytime soon. This comic is absolutely brilliant & is defintely one of the best comics that has Batman in it. The story is well laid out & the artwork is brilliant. It also gives out some information about the Joker's past. Although I'd rather see the Joker get his arse kicked a bit at the end, Batman resorts to a less violent ending. The Joker plays his "normal" self in the comic, which is my most favourite of his moods. Let me explain, the Joker plays one of two moods: The "normal" mood & the "mental patient" mood. When he's in his "mental patient" mood, he will try really stupid things like boiling Batman alive in an acid vat shaped like a clown. In his "normal" mood, it seems more realistic & even scarier, cause he usually just gets out a gun & does things sneakily & evily. Either way I love the Joker, but in this graphic novel, he's at his best. If you love Batman, the Joker & a great comic, get this.
[edit] Non Fiction
Name: Animal.
Publisher: Dorling Kindersley.
Year: 2001.
ISBN: ISBN 0751334278.
Description: The book is basically about animals; including mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, insects & amphibians, & displays each animal in a small info-box type setting. The book also touches on habitats & the environment.
Review: This is the best animal book ever! It covers quite a lot of stuff & is great if you need to work on a school project or look things up for Wikipedia. Infact the whole series of books that Dorling Kindersley published with Animal in it are brilliant! The book covers most of the animals you'll ever need or want to know about. Although the information on each animal is limited, it still knowledgable & interesting. Beautifully displayed with full colour pictures, this book is a must for all animal lovers. Excellent!!!

[edit] Horror
Name: Freaks.
Director: Tod Browning.
Starring: Wallace Ford, Leila Hyams, Olga Baclanova & Rosco Ates.
Year: 1932.
Basic Plot: The story follows a group of "freaks" in a circus who are tormented by one of the beautiful acrobats in the circus. After she tries to seduce & then murder one of the performers for his money, the circus "freaks" exact revenge on her for the years of torment.
Review: I only watched this movie by chance. I picked out the oldest movie from the TV guide & decided to watch it. This was that movie. Although you really have to be an old movie lover to really enjoy it, this is still an excellent film for everyone. Not recomended for children, not for its horror (which there is little of), but because they will probably become bored with the movie, as they would with any old movie. Apart from that, I absolutely love this movie to bits. You get a real insight into the "freaks" back then & how they were thought of. There's even a guy with no arms or legs, but he still manages to light his cigarette! A must see for all oldies, old film lovers, or just people facinated by circus performers. Great acting, & not too long either....
Name: Open Water.
Director: Chris Kentis & Laura Lau.
Starring: Blanchard Ryan, Daniel Travis & Saul Stein.
Year: 2004.
Basic Plot: The story is based on the true events that happened to a couple while on holiday after they are left behind during a scuba diving expedition.
Review: This movie is marginally entertaining. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you really want to see it I'll tell you what happens now. Couple get left behind. Couple get upset. Couple get scared. Couple fall asleep. Couple wake up. Couple get eaten by sharks. Aw, I just told you what happen... Ain't I a meany? Now go rent out something decent! Honestly, there's only so much you can do with two people floating in water & a piece of seaweed (Actually, the piece of seaweed was in about half the shots!). Poor acting, poor script, poor everything. Some low budjet films transport you, but Open Water feels & looks like a low budjet film. Guess what, it is! Don't watch it unless you really are a bit "funny".
Name: The Exorcism Of Emily Rose.
Director: Scott Derrickson.
Starring: Jennifer Carpenter, Tom Wilkinson & Laura Linney.
Year: 2005.
Basic Plot: The film follows true events in the trial of a Catholic priest charged with the negligent murder of a girl named Emily Rose. However, the defence argues that the girl was possessed by demons & that it was them, not the priest that killed the girl. Soon the defence team become under attack from these demons & to make matters worse, their key witness dies in an accident.
Review: This movie is one of the finest horror movies I've seen in a long time. The film is more a psychological chiller than gore & ghosts. The actual exorcism scene is done brilliantly & gave even me, a hardened horror buff, a scare. The movie is based on a trial & you see the past while the testimonies are being given. Jennifer Carpenter offers a brilliant performance as the possessed Emily Rose, & Tom Wilkinson & Laura Linney both give excellent performances too. Carpenter is incredible in the way she can contort her body into those poses as though she was actually possessed & for the whole movie, you are totally imersed in the plot. This has no real let downs & is a must see for all religious, horror, thriller, demon horror & court buffs. I loved it!
Name: White Noise.
Director: Geoffrey Sax.
Starring: Michael Keaton, Chandra West, Deborah Kara Unger & Ian McNeice.
Year: 2005.
Basic Plot: After the death of his second wife, Jonathan Rivers gets an unexpected visit from a priest, telling Jonathan that his wife is trying to make contact from the other side using EVP or White Noise. This leads to Jonathan delving deep into EVP's realm & unearthing some unnatural occurances.
Review: A bit of a let down. This movie had so much potential for being a great horror flick, but a dry performance from Michael Keaton & a rubbish ending made for an average film. All the supporting actors were also lacking, apart from Ian McNeice, who delivered a good performance. Not many scares, & you never really get to know what the heck happened, only roughly, but still an adequate viewing experience for horror fans & people who get scared by the occult & such.
[edit] Thriller
Name: American Crime.
Director: Dan Mintz.
Starring: Annabella Sciorra, Rachael Leigh Cook & Cary Elwes.
Year: 2003.
Basic Plot: After two strip club workers disappear & are found dead later on, a team of reporters unearth a mysterious tape which shows the women being followed & later murdered by the camera man or woman. After investigating the cases further, the two female reporters on the team become targeted by the murderer & have other tapes sent to them. The reporters must find out who's the murderer before it's too late.
Review: This is one hell of a crap movie. If you see this playing on screen somewhere, retrieve a pencil to first gouge your eyes out & then puncture your ear drums before any major damage can be done. The main characters are absolutely fake & boring & stupid. The whole movie is basically rubbish. Do not watch it. Ever. I mean it....
Name: Suspect Zero.
Director: Edmund Elias Merhige.
Starring: Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley & Carrie-Anne Moss.
Year: 2004.
Basic Plot: FBI Agent Thomas Mackelway, played by Aaron Eckhart, and his ex, Agent Fran Kulok, played by Carrie-Anne Moss, are put on the trail of Ben O'Ryan, a serial killer who targets other serial killers. As the investigation proceeds, the agents begin to become aware of the possible existence of Suspect Zero, a mythical "super serial killer", responsible for hundreds of deaths across all 50 States who leaves no evidence behind to link his crime together. The agents must decide if O'Ryan is the key that will allow them to catch Suspect Zero, or if he is Suspect Zero himself.
Review: Although you wouldn't think it, there is actually nothing wrong with this movie at all. A good plot, chemistry & great performances from the lead, filled with twists & a decent ending. Although a small amount of people wouldn't like it, most would, especially those who like crime thrillers or any of the lead actors, who do a great job. Don't pass it over, but instead keep it for a rainy day.

Name: Chronicles of Riddick, The.
Director: David Twohy.
Starring: Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Thandie Newton, Judy Dench, Colm Feore, Linus Roache, Keith David, Yorick van Wageningen, Alexa Davalos & Nick Chinlund.
Year: 2004.
Basic Plot: In this sequel to Pitch Black, Vin Diesel reprises his role as Riddick. Trying to avoid bounty hunters seeking the bounty on his head, Riddick is lead to the person who issued the bounty. He soon learns that the bounty was a ploy to entice him back to defend his old friend's planet from the rampaging Necromongers. Riddick is soon on a mission to rekindle a lost love while trying to save the universe from destruction at the hands of the evil Necromonger Lord Marshall. Although he is only one man, he finds out that he is the last of the Furians, the only race which Necromongers fear.
Review: As per many films nowadays, especially sci fi & horror films, The Chronicles of Riddick is neither poor nor is it excellent. Although it is slightly more watchable than other movies in the same genre, the film is let down by a lacking performance from both Vin Diesel & Judy Dench. However great performances from Karl Urban & Thandie Newton, (whose part in the storyline rings tones of Macbeth), & excellent environments & settings, as well as brilliant computer graphics make it an enjoyable flim on the whole. Although I'd suggest it more for the teenage boy & sci fi fan groups, others may equally enjoy the film as well. A definite must for Diesel fans however.

Name: Crimson Rivers II: Angels of the Apocalypse or Les Rivières pourpres II: Les anges de l'apocalypse.
Director: Oliver Dahan.
Starring: Jean Reno, Benoit Magimel & Christopher Lee.
Year: 2004.
Basic Plot: After a body is found in a monastery, Commissioner Neimans, Jean Reno, must reprise his partnership with Benoit Magimel in order to solve a mystery that could destroy the world.
Review: The sequel to Crimson Rivers, (Les Rivières pourpres in French), Crimson Rivers II: Angels of the Apocalypse is an excellent film, much better than the first. The plot is excellent & the action scenes are riveting, especially the chase on foot scene. The evil monks are done particularly well also. Although Christopher Lee's character is a bit cliché & monotone in performance; you can only use the Nazi war criminal villain in a movie so many times. However, it doesn't even register on the viewer's radar while they concentrate on brilliant performances by both Jean Reno & Benoit Magimel. I loathe movie-goers who will not watch a movie if it subtitled, & with this movie, they would be missing out on one of the best films from Jean Reno. From the first fight scene, which is absolutely breath-taking, the movie grips you & should be mandatory watching for everyone. The movie borders on thriller-horror, & is quite dark, but still is an excellent film. See it soon!
[edit] War
Name: Kingdom of Heaven.
Director: Ridley Scott.
Starring: Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson, Marton Csokas, David Thewls & Brendan Gleeson.
Year: 2005.
Basic Plot: Set in the time of the crusades, Orlando Bloom plays a young blacksmith named Balian, who is found by his long lost, crusading father. His father seeks to take his son to Jerusalem to take part in the holy wars. After much deliberation, Balian goes with his father, who unfortunately, dies on the way. Finding himself alone, Balian sets off to make a name for himself, & as you'd expect, gets enveloped in the crusades. Favoured by the dying king, much like Ridley Scott's previous film Gladiator, Balian eventually becomes the ultimate hero & leader in the crusades.
Review: Although the movie was a good watch, it was nowhere as good as the media's hype set it up to be. From pretty much the beginning the plot was predictable & clichè, almost as if Ridley Scott had copied the script from Gladiator. Performances were a bit too forced & lacking, as though the director wanted to get the movie along without attention to detail. The fight scenes were were average & nowhere as good as the likes of Braveheart, Gladiator or Troy. Although not comparing it to it, Kingdom of Heaven had big shoes to fill from Gladiator, but failed miserably at tying its shoe laces. A good watch for Bloom fans & hard core war watchers.

Name: Desperate Housewives.
Creator: Marc Cherry.
Starring: Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria & Nicolette Sheridan.
Opening Year: 2004.
Basic Plot: The story follows the going ons in the quiet neighbourhood of Wisteria Lane, especially the lives of five families. Some of the plots for the characters include murder, suicide, affairs, blackmail, drugs & homosexuality.
Review: This is a great show. I never miss it one week! The four leading actresses are brilliant & their stories combine the perfect amount of humour, romance, mystery & drama. The male actors all show brilliant performances & support the leads perfectly. The whole show is narrated by one wife who commited suicide in the first 5 minutes of the show starting, adding to the third person style of the show. Great storylines & brilliant characters make this a weekly must see show. Everyone mature enough will love this show.
[edit] Drama
Name: Carnivàle.
Creator: Daniel Knauf.
Starring: Nick Stahl, Clancy Brown, Michael J. Anderson, Amy Madigan & Clea DuVall.
Opening Year: 2003.
Basic Plot: The story, which is set in the time of the Great Depression, evolves around Ben Hawkins, an escapee who joins a travelling carnival. Ben must cope with the difficulties of the time & learn to control the great power of healing that he has. A side story, but one that is obviously destined to be involved with the main story, is that of Brother Justin, played by Clancy Brown, who leads his own church.
Review: This show rivals, & possibly beats, Lost in mystery. I just love this show. There's enough of everything; action, drama, sex, murder. It all fits in perfectly. Although I still have no idea what the heck Brother Justin's story is about, the main story about Ben Hawkins, is brilliant. Lots of sub stories & mystery keep you watching until the end. Sadly however, the show was canceled. Apart from that, there's no real downside to the show. The older generation & fans of Lost & Six Feet Under will enjoy this show greatly. Just don't let grandpa watch the "Hot & Bothered" episode, or all the sex everyone's having might make his heart give out!

[edit] Board Games
Name: The Gatekeeper Atmosphere 2.
Year: 2003.
Description: You play this game by putting a DVD into your player & the basic rules are that you need to get out of the Gatekeeper's domain by opening the chamber of souls within 49 minutes. You have each put your greatest fear into the chamber. To escape you need one of each colour of key, apart from the black key, which you cannot finish if you have it. You get around by rolling either one or two dice, & you can pick up cards which do random things. Occasionally, the Gatekeeper will pop up on screen & will tell you what to do next. The first one to reach the chamber of souls & have their fear read aloud within 49 minutes wins the game.
Review: The rules are very difficult for beginners, especially those who just want to get right into it. However, it's hard to read the rules when time is ticking & you can't pause the game! One down fall is when you're playing with around 3 people & 2 of you get stuck in the black hole at the same time. Then you have to wait a long time to be released! It was extra difficult for me, who is already colour blind & couldn't tell some of the key colours apart! So instead of grabbing the blue key, I grab the purple one, etc etc. Other than a few difficulties, it make out to be a surprisingly fun game, with many who play it coming away feeling that the game was better than they expected. You need a DVD player & 49 minutes however. Other than that, should be a great game for those in the 12 to adult ages.

[edit] X Box Games
Name: Fable.
Type: RPG.
Year: 2004.
Description: You start off as a little boy whose town gets burned down by barabrians. You are one of only a handfull which survive. After this terrible ordeal, you are found by a powerful hero & transported to the legendary Guild of Heroes. From here you must train to become a real hero for when you are allowed to go & make a name for yourself. Based on your actions, your appearance & how other people see you will change. If you choose to do bad things, people will start to despise you & you will get horns & red eyes. If you do good things, people will love you & you will get a halo. However, if you are powerful, people will worship you whatever you have done. You evolve in real time & can ungrade your skills using points from the different monsters you kill. You can take quests, some which are key to the story line, or one just for fun. As you explore the land, what you have done will affect what will happen.
Review: This game is a little gem. There are so many choices: Good or evil, magic or archery, one wife or three, (not a brilliant idea!), rent houses or be nomadic, fat or thin, take the quest or not, kill a man or help him? So many choices! Although the story seems a little short, the plot is excellent & gives great freedom to the player. A multitude of enemies & lots of places to explore make this one of the best RPGs on the X Box. The gameplay & graphics, combined with a great AI make this one hell of a great game & you get every cent of your money's worth. Although Fable: The Lost Chapters will probably be better than the original, this is still a great game & will absolutely be a classic soon, opening up the good or evil choices style of game to the world. Brilliant!
Name: Half-Life 2.
Type: Shooter.
Year: 2005.
Description: This game is the sequal to Half-Life, & like the first, you are Gordon Freeman, who is one of the greatest heroes of the rebels, who are fighting against the aliens called the Combine, who entered Earth through a slip stream. They have taken over the planet & you must fight through 15 levels to destroy them.
Review: Wow. From the moment I first played it, I was stunned. Dare I say this game is better than Halo? I dare say it! Half-Life 2 is better than Halo! The graphics are stunning, the AI is excellent, the physics of objects is amasing & the characters are believable. Plus the settings are pretty good too. Although the vehicles are hard to operate, the rest of the game is enough to drown out that & any other minor hiccups it may have. So far, "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" is my favourite level, partly for it being so damn scarey & so damn long! I had to endure the frustration of waiting for Half-Life 2 to come out on X-Box as we couldn't play it on our computer, but the wait was well worth it. Buy it now all you shoot em up fans, sci fi fans & good game fans, it's a must!
Name: Worms 4: Mayhem.
Type: Arcade.
Year: 2005.
Description: You are in control over a group of worms in a fully destructable, 3-D environment. Your mission is to destroy the other group of worms before you get killed yourself. You use weapons such as shot guns, sheep & bazookas. There are different modes of play & your worms are fully customisable. In a multiplayer game, there can be up to 4 teams, & there are also single player missions & training if you have no one to play with.
Review: Although it had the potential to be a great game, Worms 4: Mayhem does not deliver. Some aspects are excellent, such as the fully customisable teams, from their voices to their facial hair & the graphics are also great, however the contrast really confuses you after a while. Other great expansions are the team weapons which you can create for your team & that the 3-D landscapes are fully destructable, like the first games. However, the game plays a little bit childishy, & definitely does not carry the fun & wackiness of the first games over into this game. A great disappointment. They also left out so many staples of the pc games such as the handgun & cows. Further more, the weapon, "flood", was pretty pointless, as in a multiplayer game, everyone sets it off & everyone drowns! Not very exciting! Plus I also miss the cavern levels of the 2-D games. Basically this game does not live up to the previous game's standards. Only the fort mode is slightly more enjoyable. I feel they tried to put in too many bells & whistles that overcrowded the game. I would recommend this game for younger children, however I fear all the bright colours & things to keep track of during a game would either give them a nervous breakdown &/or send them to therapy! Although the graphics may be crappier, the 2-D games are ten times better.
[edit] Playstation Games
Name: Kingdom Hearts.
Type: Platform.
Year: 2002.
Description: You start off on an island as a fourteen year old boy named Sora. He lives on the island with his two close friends, Riku & Kairi, as well as other characters from the Final Fantasy series. The island is soon attacked by an evil force called the Heartless. Riku & Kairi disappear & Sora recieves the magical Key Blade able to attack & destroy the Heartless. After his island is destroyed by the Heartless, Sora is transported to another world entirely by the Key Blade. Meanwhile, on another planet completely, King Mickey has disappeared. Two from his court, Donald Duck & Goofy, have been sent out to find the king. Before they can do that however, the king left a note saying that they must find the one carrying the Key Blade before it's too late. Eventually, Sora, Donald & Goofy meet up together & soon find that these Heartless have the power to destroy entire planets & that the Key Blade can be used to lock the planet's "heart" before it is destroyed. Sora is on his own mission too; to find his lost friends. Soon, Sora finds that the Key Blade he holds is the key to everything & that he alone can save the universe from the Heartless. Along with the help of his two companions, Sora must face countless dangers across numerous planets all themed from Walt Disney movies.
Review: If you buy the Play Station for one game, buy it for this one. Kingdom Hearts is, & probably will be, the best platform game of all time. Although the game starts of really strangely, it gets better after you get to the next stage. You start off on Sora's island with easy tasks such as gathering wood etc. But by the end of the game you've versed some of the most fiendish bosses & solved some of the most boggling puzzles, all mixed in with intense fighting & a sophisticated gameplay. The above basic plot looks terrible written down, but believe me, it is awesome beyond belief. There are too many plot twists & points for me to comment on, plus I wouldn't want to ruin the whole game for you. Sora & company are so close to your heart at the end of the game, you may just cry when the final credits roll, (I didn't cry, no, not at all......). The worlds are so varied & intricate, you may just never completely explore them. Some of my favourite worlds are Traverse Town, Wonderland, (from Alice in Wonderland) & Halloween Town, (from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas), which has one of the best bosses in the game. The hardest levels were undoubtably the Underwater World one, (from The Little Mermaid), for, well, being underwater, & Agrabah, (from Aladdin) for being so damn hard. Monstro, (from Pinocchio) is also pretty confusing, while Neverland, (from Peter Pan) is quite easy. The bosses are excellent, with every world having around two main bosses. The Heartless are brilliant & you can record them all in a journal, which also records all the characters you've met & the story line so far. You can buy items using munny, a form of curreny, & there are loads of option for everyone. Compelling, moving & damn near perfect is all I can say. Over time you collect new combos & moves for you & your team, as well as weapons, wards, spells & team mates. You also get a taste of arcade action when you travel to other worlds by piloting your own spaceship & shooting enemies. I've been playing for around 60 hours, & I never want to stop. A must must must have!!!
Name: MediEvil.
Type: Platform.
Year: 1998.
Description: You are Sir Daniel Fortesque, who was once a great warrior, but was killed during a battle with the evil wizard Zarok. However, when Zarok returns from hiding after he was defeated, Dan's body is brought back to life to battle Zarok once more.
Review: This game was a real ground-breaker when it came out, with brilliant graphics, a good story line & fun gameplay & characters. The game is still excellent & can still be played easily if you don't mind the outdated graphics. However, if they re-released the game with improved graphics, it would be a hit all over again! The creatures & levels are really diverse & you really enjoy playing them. Although some parts are hard to get through, & some you may even need a cheat to get through, gameplay is simple & exciting. There isn't a shortage of puzzles either, & often they get quite complex for players (mainly me, signaling the use of a cheat...). As soon as you hit the Asylum levels, I doubt anyone but the cleverest will be able to get past the puzzles there without a cheat, & the Ghost Ship level is quite difficult to get through too. Other than those, all levels are excellently perfected!! Great for the nostalgic dad or children & teenagers.
Name: Theme Park World.
Type: Building.
Year: 2000.
Description: You have been charged with the construction & maintaining of a chain of theme parks. Each park has its own theme, of which there is a space theme, dinosaur theme, fantasy theme & horror theme. You start off with one park, which you must build to unlock golden tickets. Get enough golden tickets & you can unlock new parks & specials, such as a camcorder which allows you to enter your own parks.
Review: The idea of this game is great, & to this day, the construct your own theme park is still a major seller. However, the graphics are now really out dated & game play is boring compared to other games in the same genre such as Zoo Tycoon or The Sims. Two of the most annoying features are that only three parks can be open at a time, out of a possible eight, & every time you close a park, the park is deleted. The second annoying feature is your park advisor, who pops up about ten times every minute with his annoying, repetitive phrases. Other than that, a good play for younger children who have not seen the better graphics on offer nowadays. In its day, I would have given it 4 or 4.5 stars, now however, with today's gameplay, it only recieves 3.
Name: Worms World Party.
Type: Arcade.
Year: 2001.
Description: Well the basic plot is, well, there is no real plot. You're in control of a small group of worms, yes worms, who must try & destroy the enemy worms using weapons such as bazookas, shotguns & concrete donkeys on a fully destructable, 2-D environment. There can be up to 4 players in a game, & there are also single player missions & training too. In multiplayer games, the teams take turns in moving one worm at a time within the time limit. You can create your own team with your own names & even create your own game mode with what weapons can & can't be used.
Review: This game was originally made for computer, but finally cemented its roots with the tv console with this game & Worms Armageddon. This is one of the most care free, fun, cute & wackiest games you'll ever come across. From the moment I played it I was addicted. The weapons vary from the normal, & some what boring, handgun, all the way to the concrete donkey & banana bomb, two of the highest wounding weapons yet. You can choose what languages your worms speak, from Afrikaans to Scottish, which are both pretty funny to hear little worms yell out at odd times. Unlike other games, where you get all angry from not being able to get to the next level, it is equally pleasing to see your enemy's or your own worms being flung into the ocean from a dynamite. There's no stress basically. The custom game options give a new dimension if you want fun, & turning on the double damage mode button always increases the insanity. Over all, an excellent game.
[edit] Games Workshop
Name: Bretonnian Bowman.
Battle Game: Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
Edition: 5th Edition.
Description: A plastic Brettonnian peasant bowman with bow in hand.
Review: This model is meant to be used in huge regiments. When I bought them, they were already all nicely converted, which is good, because you don't want all your models looking the same. Okay to paint, provides some experience. Some parts may be difficult for those new to the hobby, but the bowmen offer a great chance to create your own colour scheme & skin colours etc. On the battle field however, it all goes down hill... As you'd expect, peasants can't shoot to save themselves. Take it as a miracle if a regiment of your archers actually manages to kill more than two models in a turn! Don't even bother with heavily armoured targets! I've played enough games with them to know that you should concentrate on lesser targets. Protect them well, as usually if a powerful enough enemy gets to them, they're as good as dead. They can be great if used on hills so that up to two ranks can see & also if you use them to divert enemies away from your prised troops, such as grail knights.
Name: Gandalf the Grey at Khazad Dûm.
Battle Game: The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.
Edition: 1st Edition.
Description: This metal model shows Gandalf the Grey as he was before the fight with the Balrog at the bridge of Khazad Dum. He has his sword & staff raised upwards.
Review: The model is quite easy to paint, however the arm is a real pain to glue on. In my case, it fell of once or twice, one time right before a painting competion! You can really get a good shading going on the robes if you spend the time. I've hardly used him in battle, as I mainly play evil, but he seems competent enough. Although I would personally prefer Saruman to Gandalf, if I had to choose a wizard from the good side, it would definitely be him, but that would probably because he's one of the only good wizards! His one extra point of Will a turn really helps, but then again, Saruman has that too. Sorcerous Blast is always fun as well. Over all, minor troubles in the preparation area, but well worth the wait in the battles.
Name: Moria Goblin bowman.
Battle Game: The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.
Edition: 1st Edition.
Description: A plastic Moria Goblin with a bow in its hand.
Review: The goblins are easy to paint if you want to do an okay job, but if you really want to perfect them, they're a pain in the ass to paint as they're way too small for most to do detailed work on. The Moria Goblin bowman is easy to put together; just glue it onto its base. But painting them, especially the face & feet which are usually poorly molded, is a hassle. The easiest way to paint the face is to do a wash on it, then carefully highlight the bits you want to. The rest is easy. Goblins really are useless on the battle field, & even more so for Moria Goblin bowmen. You really have to be lucky with your rolls if you want to hit something, let alone kill it! Even in a group of 8 it's still hard to hit an enemy. They're best used as a defensive force. By defensive I mean gaurding a small entrance way or an objective. If there's a way the enemy can loop around & attack your flanks, then you should probably send these guys there, as they're better at hand to hand than they are at firing. Although they're cheap, they're useless, but can still sway a game as well if kept safe & lucky.
Name: Uruk Hai captain with sword raised.
Battle Game: The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.
Edition: 1st Edition.
Description: This metal model shows an unnamed Uruk Hai captain with his sword raised upwards.
Review: An easy-as-pie model to paint, with, (as with most uruk hai), only metal & skin to paint. This however can limit your painting prowess, as there's hardly anything you can really do a great paint job on. It's just metal & brown skin. Not very detailed or exciting! However, on the battle field, captain are the real backbone of the uruk hai army. They have enough might, fate & attacks to really change a battle. This is of course if they can actually get to the battle! Being a tough model, your opposition will probably shoot your captain with full force. However, I've come up with a nifty way to stop this from happening. Simply include a Lurtz model in your force. For some reason, your opposition will almost always shoot Lurtz, especially if he's in the open. Don't ask me why, but it works, cause my captain has only died about 2 times in all the games I've had him in, & Lurtz has died about 5 out of 7 games I've played him in, most of those from shooting! So using the cover of Lurtz, you captain can quite easily slip into battle & create havoc, which is what you want him to do. Back him up with a few spear men & maybe a beserker, & you'll be towards victory in no time! A great model, & a basic must for beginners.

Artist: The Beatles.
Type: Pop.
Year: 2000.
Songs: Love Me Do, From Me To You, She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Can't Buy Me Love, A Hard Day's Night, I Feel Fine, Eight Days A Week, Ticket To Ride, Help!, Yesterday, Day Tripper, We Can Work It Out, Paperback Writer, Yellow Submarine, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, All You Need Is Love, Hello, Goodbye, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, Get Back, The Ballad Of John And Yoko, Something, Come Together, Let It Be, The Long And Winding Road.
Review: Phew! Never knew they could cram that many songs on one CD! A great CD, however, some of the songs might not be some people's cup of tea. A must must for Beatle's fans. This CD is also a great gift for dad, especially if he grew up with the Beatles. I personally only like about ten of the songs on here, but for the average person, it would be higher. So it definitly deserves four out of five.
Name: Aquarium.
Artist: Aqua.
Type: Pop.
Year: 1997.
Songs: Happy Boys & Girls, My Oh My, Barbie Girl, Good Morning Sunshine, Doctor Jones, Heat Of The Night, Be A Man, Lollipop (Candyman), Roses Are Red, Turn Back Time, Calling You.
Review: Aqua has to be one of the funnest groups around, & this is one of their best CDs ever. Although the ballads are a bit boring, most of the songs are up beat & great at a party. The female lead vocalist, Lene Nystrøm Rasted, is brilliant & is backed up perfectly by René Dif. Overall a great CD, but the ballads lose the plot of the CD a bit. Should definitely be popular among girls.
Name: The Back Room.
Artist: Editors.

Year: 2006.
Songs: Lights, Munich, Blood, Fall, All Sparks, Camera, Fingers in the Factories, Bullets, Someone Says, Open Your Arms, Distance.
Review: Definitely my pick for one the albums of 2006. Editors are simply brilliant, with not a dull moment in the album, and each of the four members play their part to perfection. The music is sort of a cross between Joy Division and Franz Ferdinand, its very hard to describe the sound though. Tom Smith has earned my respect for writing some of the simplest lyrics ever. The lyrics are mostly moody and sometimes very pessimistic. And Tom Smith has an unique singing style which suits the music perfectly. The only minor snag to this album is that it can get a bit repetitive, which is good in sort of a way. The album grows on you with each time you listen to it. My pick of the best songs of the album are Munich, All Sparks, and with Blood and Fingers in the Factories coming in joint 3rd. A must have for every Rock or Indie fan! - Additional user rating by Jayant,17 Years,India • contribs.
Name: Weathered.
Artist: Creed.
Type: Christian Rock.
Year: 2001.
Songs: Bullets, Freedom Fighter, Who's Got My Back?, Signs, One Last Breath, My Sacrifice, Stand Here With Me, Weathered, Hide, Don't Stop Dancing, Lullaby.
Review: An excellent CD. Don't let the type, (rock), put you off this CD, as you'd be missing out on one of the best Christian Rock groups of today. Although they are mainly comprised of electric guitars & drums, although nowhere near to the extent of heavy metal rock, Creed is quite capable at singing excellent ballads & softer songs. Although it is not in your face, the Christian undertone is definitely there, with some songs, including my favourite, One Last Breath, giving messages of anti suicide. Some of the music videos to the songs are also quite impressive. If you love softer rock, are a Christian or just love good music, this Weathered is perfect for you. However, to really understand the album's messages, you really have to read the words to the songs. Five out of five for sure!

Name: One Last Breath.
Artist: Creed.
Type: Christian Rock.
Single Year: 2002.
Discs: Weathered, Greatest Hits & single.
Review: This is my favourite Creed song. Ever. And it always will be. The song clearly has an under-message of anti-suicide, with the song being about the singer being down & out, but then seeing that maybe it isn't too late for him. It's definitely not rock, more of a soft rock, & shouldn't be harsh on anyone's ears like other rock groups. Scott Stapp really delivers in this song, showing a great vocal performance & changing to a whisper in a heartbeat. As with all the Creed songs, you have to listen to the song's words for a full understanding of the meaning. Most people should like this song, especially people who want a sad song to listen to once in a while. It's okay to cry.......
Name: Sweet Child O' Mine.
Artist: Guns N' Roses.
Type: Rock.
Single Year: 1987.
Discs: Appetite for Destruction & single.
Review: One of my favourite songs after I first heard it. The group does an excellent job of the song, especially after there are so many parts in it where they could have stuffed it up. The lead singer, Axl Rose does an excellent job, giving a brilliant vocal display. However, although many may argue, the group never got as good as they did with this song. A brilliant song. A brilliant guitar solo too. A must for anyone into this sort of music, & probably anyone who isn't. Hear it soon!

Name: Dreammoods.com.
Description: This site is an online list of dreams & their meanings. People can send in their dreams & have them interpreted & there are also other features such as the A-Z of dreams. There are forums for people to discuss their dreams too.
Review: This site is pretty accurate in its interpretations, which is the main thing you should look for when your seek this kind of advice. I've seen some dream books where everything they say is just soooo wrong & cheesy sounding. The actual site is pretty easy to use & navigate around & is pretty comprehensive. The forums are good by the looks of them, although I've never used them. But again, the down fall of most sites are those annoying ads, although they aren't as bad as some sites nowadays. Good site if you're into this sort of thing, a bit weird if you're not. However, it should be good if you go into it with an open mind. No frills, just the honest, plain html....
Name: Moviemistakes.com.
Description: Movie mistakes is an internet site where users can contibute movie mistakes, bloopers, trivia & pictures for free, although members get special perks. The site is sorted in alphabetic order & you can search for the movie you want by following the instructions. Pages also have indicators for new & recent citations.
Review: An all round good site, but many of the pages take ages to get through. However, as with many other good sites, the thrill of sharing your knowledge is a major driver, making this a well developed site, with tonnes of movies to look through. The membership costs a minimal amount, but I doubt it is worth it, as you basically get around the same rights as a non member. The time from when you send in a mistake via e-mail till the time it gets posted is around a few days to a week, which is good considering the guy who runs the site works alone, (I think). A good feature, but not a life saver, is the mistake voting, which allows you to vote on which mistake you like best. There are also lists of, Most Mistakes & Best Mistakes. One major let down is the amount of ads on the site. They become quite a nuisence after a while, but most should be able to handle it. An over all good site for young & old alike, but don't allow your children on unsupervised as they may click on the attractives ads like children tend to do....
Name: Wikipedia.
Description: Wikipedia is a huge online encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone. Although there are certain rules in place, the average person can log on & create their own encyclopedic article on any subject. If people achieve more, they are elected to adminship which gives them a whole lot more tools for making the job easier. You can also talk with other users & create your own sub pages, much like this one here, off your main user page.
Review: This site is the best on the internet without a doubt, even though it's a small, stupid, little-known site which hardly anyone belongs to..... heh... Honestly though, it's quite thrilling to be able to create & edit your own encyclopedia articles. There's so much to do, why don't you go see for yourself?
