Sparkler bomb

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A sparkler bomb is a simple type of improvised explosive device used for entertainment, as it has very little or no shrapnel.

[edit] Design

There are two main types of sparkler bombs, the incendiary type and the concussive type. The incendiary type is made by simply packing a coffee can or other similar container with sparklers and lighting it. The results are a spectacular shower of sparks. The concussive sparkler bomb is slightly more complex. First, 10-300 sparklers are obtained, and are aligned evenly. A length of fuse, like the kind often sold in fireworks stores, is placed in the bundle of sparklers and extends out. Alternatively a sparkler can be left extended from the bundle. The entire bundle is then thickly wrapped in electrical PVC tape from a few layers to half an inch, depending on the amount of sparklers being used. The fuse or sparkler is then lit, and the result is a deep, loud concussive explosion. It is often believed that normal iron sparklers are more likely to generate the large flame, while newer "morning glory" sparklers are more likely to generate an explosion or just do nothing lol.
