Spanish gardens

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spain has a long tradition of making gardens. Significant gardens were made:

  • By the Romans
  • By the Islamic rulers of Southern Spain (for example, the Alhambra)
  • By owners of castle in the medieval period
  • By Christian kings during the Renaissance and Baroque periods (for example, the La Granja)
  • By landowning and business families during the Romantic and Modern periods (for example, the Park Guell)

In twenty-first century Spain, gardens are designed by horticulturalists, architects and landscape architecture professions.
