Spacemonkey was the pseudonym of a well known and proficient hacker that attacked BBS and early internet websites between 1990 and 1996, mainly in South Australia. He/She would render the attacked websites inoperational by inserting a front page with no links (or no options in the case of a BBS attack) and displaying only the name 'spacemonkey'.

The most memorable event was a successful attack upon the 'Oracle' BBS (later renamed due to trademark infringement from Oracle Database Systems) based in Adelaide, South Australia, which was by far the largest BBS in the vicinity at that time.
