[edit] Plot
Five extra-terrestrials, Etno, Gorgious, Stereo, Candy and Bud, go to vacation together in space. They have an accident and crash in planet Earth. Forced to hide from humans, they take shelter in an old abandoned house and Etno creates a mutating machine that can change their bodies so they can go out sometimes.
The aliens have two goals: return to their home planets and chase away anybody who tries to establish themselves in the house.
[edit] Characters
- Etno: short and purple with red lips, Etno is the nerd and the brains of the group. A scientific genius, he creates all sort of machines. In the original French version, he speaks with an English accent.
- Bud: tall and orange with a long neck, Bud is lazy and naive. He is a television addict and spends most of the time sitting in front of it and drinking soft drinks.
- Candy: small and green with a wrinkled forehead, Candy is very effeminate and acts as the "woman" of the group, despite being male.
- Gorgious: fat and blue with a heavy chin, Gorgious is the grumpy and brutal one. He is very greedy and his hobby consists of eating and bullying the others.
- Stereo: two-headed and red, Stereo acts as two people since each head has its own mind. "He" doesn't have a defined personality. He does not appear in the show on Nicktoons UK.
[edit] Analysis
- The series has been a hit in France, in particular due to its absurd, slapstick and tongue-in-cheek slightly politically incorrect humor.
[edit] Trivia
- The animated series has been adapted into a 3D adventure game called Stupid Invaders (an obvious pun on Space Invaders), where the aliens get attacked by a mad scientist (who has appeared in one episode of the series).
- The theme song 'Monster Men' is performed by Iggy Pop
- on one of the episodes, there is a rocking horse of Oggy, from the fellow Gaumont Film Company show Oggy and The Cockroaches.
