Space Eggs is a video game for the Apple II computer, created by Nasir Gebelli and published by Sirius Software in 1981.

[edit] Description

The style of Space Eggs is similar to that of Space Invaders (and Sirius's own Sneakers), in that the player moves a ship from side to side across the bottom of the screen while trying to avoid colliding with or being shot by the aliens attacking above. Each level pits the player against multiple aliens of a particular class, which become more difficult to destroy as the levels progress.

Aliens begin as harmless, multi-colored "eggs" bobbing randomly above your ship, and must be shot to release the creatures within. The four classes of alien are:

  • Monsters, insect-like creatures that move randomly around the screen and are worth 15 points.
  • Space wolves, which move randomly and often descend to the level of your spaceship. Worth 30 points.
  • Giant lips, which drop bombs and must be shot twice to be destroyed. 45 points.
  • Killer fuzz balls, which descend to the level of the spaceship once shot and move horizontally, guaranteeing destruction. Survival depends on shooting each fuzz ball twice before it descends. Fuzz balls are 80 points each.

Destroying an alien will occasionally release a "power up", which moves down the screen and, if caught, increases the number of cannons on the ship. This power up is lost if the spaceship is destroyed.

If an alien collides with the player's ship, the ship is destroyed and a new one is flown in to replace it. The first ship is the smallest and has a single cannon; the second and third have progressively wider wingspans and fire two shots simultaneously.
