Space Dungeon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Space Dungeon was a revolutionary two-handed space-shooter game released by Atari in 1983 for the Atari 5200 game system. It came prepackaged with a dual-controller holder, as the game only used the two analog sticks, the left for movement of your spaceship, and the right for 360 degrees of shooting. The player moves through an increasingly shrinking maze avoiding enemies and collecting treasures. Also memorable were the cutesy poems that accompanied the start of each level. The game reached a slight cult-status for a while, with many of the seasoned players eliminating the dual-controller holder and instead manueveing their ship using a controller between their knees.
