[edit] Fair use debate regarding television screencaps
Currently, there is a debate on Talk:List of Lost episodes regarding whether or not use of a 1/30th stillframe visual excerpt next to a list of audiovisual works (such as List of Lost episodes or List of Stargate episodes) is in accordance with WP:Fair use, and has even resulted in the protection of the page.
If you have any opinions regarding fair use on the List of Lost episodes page, please feel free to express them as I believe these two pages are sister projects.

Thanks for uploading Image:Sga-s03e02-0.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Stargate Atlantis Episode Images
Hi, I noticed you uploaded the last image. Great screenie :) Please be sure to following the established naming convention for the file name:
Episode Name (Stargate Atlantis).ext
It only makes sense to follow what has been started in the beginning to keep thing consistent :) Also, please use the following as your upload summary and also for future uploads (view source for correct code):
== Summary == A screenshot from the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis. ==Licensing== tv-screenshot ==Rationale for fair use in List of Stargate Atlantis episodes== List of Stargate Atlantis episodes This picture is being used in Wikipedia's episode listing for the television show Stargate Atlantis (MGM). Although it is subject to copyright, the editors of Wikipedia, among them myself (SoWhy) in particular, feel that it is covered by US fair use laws because: * It is a low resolution still image; * It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the related product in any way Further, we believe our use of the image is fair because it is not being used merely to decorate the related article, but rather: * Aids commentary on the plot outline; * Poignantly illustrates the related episode Particularly because: * It illustrates the significant moment which characterises the episode in question.
The entire Stargate SG-1 pages have been tagged as a Featured List, meaning part of the set of articles which Wikipedia Community deems to be the best one, and since Atlantis is the sister page, it only makes sense to try and keep it up. The above code is the code they use with the exception of your name of course, I added that for your convenience. If you want to reupload your image with the correct naming feel free to do so, then just request for your old image to be speedy deletion citing reason CSD G7 (which is the criteria for speedy deletion, owner uploaded request), here. Thanks! You are also welcome to change the last line ("...significant moment which...") as appropriate for the episode, and why you've chosen that image. I choose to just leave it like that. See the bottom of my talk page for details. -therearenospoons 06:51, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Correct naming
Welcome :) If you look back at last season and also all the way up to the first pilot episode all the images are named with the 'Episode Title' followed by (Stargate Atlantis) and the file extension. I uploaded all of the second half of Season 2 (which before then I checked to make sure I was following what seemed to have been established), and I also checked every single one of them yesterday because I was updating the licenses to follow suit with the SG-1 Featured List style guide :) To my knowledge it's not written anywhere (no that I have thoroughly investigated it as far as to look for any fine print, since I was satisfied with seeing how all the others were named such and I did not notice any inconsistencies). Just a thought :)
Also in the template code where it has (SoWhy) you can use (~~~) instead and it will put your name in there ;) -therearenospoons 22:04, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Update
Found it...Style Guide :) -therearenospoons 22:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Found that as well but I can't see a consensus for that, it was more like someone wrote it. I started a discussion on that page to reach a consensus cause I think the naming used in SG-1 Season 9+ is superior than "Episode Name.jpg". Please participate :-) --SoWhy Talk 07:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
It seems rather obvious, IMHO to include the season number and episode number in the title, but all of Stargate Atlantis episodes have started off using the "Episode Name (Stargate Atlantis).jpg." To change it now would just make the entire article inconsistent, IMHO. I feel if someone goes back and changes it all, then I'll follow along and only because if that, rather than just starting something different. Consistency wise, it does not make too much sense. Just my two cents :) -therearenospoons 20:42, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, someone started a change for SG-1 and it was followed (with 2 exceptions). A change for Atlantis the same way could be done without problem, you just have to participate. Think about it ;-) --SoWhy Talk 22:16, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dncs
Do not change a perfectly fine screenshot when one already exists. When the current one is obviously superior to yours. In size and in the key moment of the episode. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 09:07, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I do not agree that it was superior because it did only show one person and not the cooperation of SG-1 and Atlantis, which is more key (hence the title of the episode). Other than that I changed it cause you used another naming system. There is a discussion ongoing as you saw yourself. Anyway we need to see which screenshot to use, I'd suggest we start a vote on the episodes discussion page... --SoWhy Talk 10:38, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- It showed the most important person in the episode the ascended ancient. Also see m:voting is evil and its upto the uploader to choose a name. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 09:13, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is not if the majority thinks a naming system would be a good idea. What sense would it make if a single person decides to destroy the intents behind this decision just because he does not like it? All decisions would be nonsense then... --SoWhy Talk 09:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

- please have a look at what I've added to these iamges. This should be sufficinet, and you should add at least as much information when uploading in the future. Thanks. -Harmil 14:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, thanks, I forgot. I won't upload those missing season 4 screenshots anyway, better for someone with the DVD releases to do that. --SoWhy Talk 15:22, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sg1-s10e03-0.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Sg1-s10e03-0.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:57, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing it out. There was some kind of disüute which image to use and I withdraw my suggestion to avoid an argument. I'll just leave it tagged and it will be gone in 7 days then ;-) --SoWhy Talk 13:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clash of the Turtle Titans (TMNT 2003 Episode)
I've added the "prod" template to the article Clash of the Turtle Titans (TMNT 2003 Episode), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Clash of the Turtle Titans (TMNT 2003 Episode). You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Ned Scott 22:26, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I see, your proposal has been removed and the article was nominated for moving instead. Kinda confuses me right now. --SoWhy Talk 10:10, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
