Sovereign Center

The Sovereign Center is a 7,083-seat multi-purpose arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theatre. Closed in 1975, the theatre sat vacant until it was torn down in 1998 to make room for the arena. It is home to the Reading Royals Ice hockey team and in 2006 will be home to the Reading Express indoor football team. The arena has also hosted major shows and rock concerts such as the Wiggles, Mötley Crüe, Stevie Nicks, The Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Beach Boys, and the 2004 Vote for Change Tour featuring Death Cab for Cutie and Pearl Jam.
