[edit] Construction
The construction of Southridge was a difficult task, as all funds had to be gathered from the parent population, as opposed to simply receiving funds from the government. The school was also met with fierce resistance from the surrounding neighborhood, with the opposition citing the school as a major disruption in the area that would bring the value of their real estate down. This resulted in a decision that almost split the city council down the centre, however the school eventually was built.
