Southern Thunder
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Southern Thunder is a popular CB radio and trucking club based in Davidson County, North Carolina. Members boast redneck and confederate themes at their organized events through their vehicle decorations; the Ford Ranger is the most popular vehicle in the club. Decorations most often include items with the confederate flag shown. Southern Thunder has members from all across the Piedmont Triad and from places as far away as Yanceyville, North Carolina. Every year the club hosts an annual Halloween party in the small town of Denton, North Carolina which is known for its rich farming heritage and annual "Southeastern Old Threshers' Reunion" at Denton Farm Park. One popular Halloween tradition that the club participates in every year is the ghost dance. Southern Thunder members dress in ghost costumes and run around a bonfire to honor those that have lost their lives in previous American wars, especially the Civil War.
The official publication of Southern Thunder is a newsletter called "The Vigil-annte" (with two 'n's). It is a biannual publication and is usually four pages in length.
