Southern Tagalog Arterial Road
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (also known as the STAR Tollway) is a four-lane 22 km expressway in the Philippines. It runs from Santo Tomas to Lipa City in the province of Batangas. The expressway is part of the South Luzon Expressway, though it is not yet connected with SLEx.
The expressway starts at the intersection with the Maharlika Highway in Santo Tomas and runs southward, west of the Maharlika Highway. It passes through areas under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Malvar and Tanauan City, then rejoins the Maharlika Highway with an interchange in Lipa City.
The project was funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation and implemented by the Urban Roads Project Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways. On June 6, 2005, the House of Representatives approved a bill to rename the STAR Tollway to Apolinario Mabini Superhighway. [1]
