Southern Shorthaul Railroad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Southern Shorthaul Railroad was formed in 2003. It aspires to become the leading short haul rail operator on the east coast of Australia and currently operates in New South Wales and Victoria. It provides services such as port shuttles, terminal and metropolitan shunting, line haul on both main and branch lines, infrastructure train services and train crew hire.

Its fleet consists of ex-Great Northern Railway Services (GN) locomotives that are on long-term lease from Chicago Rail Freight Leasing Australia, along with their own ex-GN S317. It started operations at the end of 2003, and its work involves shunting and trip trains in Sydney and Melbourne (from [1])
