[edit] 1993 Riot
On Easter Sunday, April 11 of 1993, 450 Lucasville Prisoners rioted for 10 days. The riot ended April 21 of 1993. The main cause apparently was a rumor in the general population that the authorities were going to force prisoners to undergo tuberculosis vaccinations. Nine inmates and 1 guard were killed. Following the events of the riots, all death row inmates at the facility were moved to a prison south of Columbus and later at the Supermax in Youngstown.
