Southern Hockey League (1995-1996)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Southern Hockey League (abbreviated SHL) is a defunct mid-level professional ice hockey league.
It operated in the United States from 1995 to 1996, with teams in the south eastern United States. It was originally named the Sunshine Hockey League, but changed it's name after expanding outside of Florida. It only lasted for one year. Huntsville, along with the planned 1996/97 expansion teams Columbus Cottonmouths and Macon Whoopee, joined the Central Hockey League following the SHL's demise.
