Southcentre Mall is one of the largest (by area) and most upscale malls in Calgary, Alberta, (918,537 square feet). It is located in the City's southeast quadrant at the intersection of Macleod Trail and Anderson Road, and across the street from the Anderson LRT Station (Calgary Transit). The mall is owned and operated by Ivanhoe Cambridge.
First opened in 1974, the mall underwent major expansions in 1986, 1988 and 2000. The most recent expansion added approximately 20 stores and a new, three level department store, originally designed for Eatons. However, due to the closure of the Eatons chain during construction, the space ultimately opened as Sears. As a result the store contains an impressive, circular 3 storey escalator hall.
The mall also contains a major food court and parking structure, and covers two complete floors in a 'racetrack' layout.
