South Wellfield First School

South Wellfield First School is a Three-Tier School in Wellfield, a district of Whitley Bay, for children in years Nursery to academic Year 4 (ages 3 to 9 years). It was founded in 1972 when the primary school established there in 1954 split into South Wellfield First School and Wellfield Middle School. It currently has around 260 pupils. The school's headteacher is a Ms Gordon, who took over from acting headteacher Mrs Rutherford in January 2002, and was preceded by Mr Peter Cryer.
