South University

South University is a small private university located in Savannah, Georgia.

Originally founded in 1899 as Draughons Practical Business College by John Draughon, the name was changed in mid 1985 to South College, to reflect the accreditation awarded by the SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), as well as the acquisition of the institution by the family of John T. South, III. The name was later changed to South University to reflect of the institution's accreditation to award degrees at the masters and doctorate level.

South University's Doctor of Pharmacy program is one of only three Schools of Pharmacy in the state of Georgia.
South University's Distance Education division has received recognition for academic excellence in distance education programs, most notably in the Information Technology and Criminal Justice programs.
