South Philipsburg is a borough in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 438 at the 2000 census.

South Philipsburg is located at 40°53′15″N, 78°13′3″W (40.887588, -78.217499)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 438 people, 175 households, and 131 families residing in the borough. The population density was 650.4/km² (1,675.1/mi²). There were 183 housing units at an average density of 271.8/km² (699.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.32% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% from other races, and 0.23% from two or more races.

There were 175 households out of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.6% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.1% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the borough the population was spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 106.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $35,139, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $24,524 versus $23,000 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $15,853. About 8.1% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.8% of those under age 18 and 6.1% of those age 65 or over.
