South Hampstead High School

South Hampstead High School is an all-girls independent school situated in Hampstead, north-west London. The school was founded in 1876. It is run by the Girls' Day School Trust. South Hampstead's pupils excel in music, art and drama. There is a large sports ground within walking distance of the school. The school encourages individuality in its pupils, and it is remarkable for its friendly, liberal and accepting attitude and the high academic standards that it maintains. South Hampstead also owns a junior school, which is offsite. It is linked with local boys' school University College School. The current headmistress is the wife of the High Master of St Paul's School
