South Garland High School is a secondary school located in Garland, Texas at 600 Colonel Drive. The school is located within the Garland Independent School District. The mascot for SGHS is the colonel, and the school colors are red and blue.
The shield was re-designed in the early 90s to replace a rebel flag in the upper right with a pair of crossed cavalry sabers, due to racial complaints.
