The South Dakota Board of Regents governs South Dakota's six public universities: Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, South Dakota State University, and the University of South Dakota. In addition, the board governs the state's two special schools, the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the South Dakota School for the Deaf. The board also oversees several university centers, including South Dakota Public Universities and Research Center in Sioux Falls, Capitol University Center in Pierre, and the Higher Education Center-West River in Rapid City. The board also maintains an Electronic University Consortium to offer courses statewide, and has articulation agreements with the state's four technical institutes: Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell, and Western Dakota Technical Institute in Rapid City.
