South Cooking Lake, Alberta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
South Cooking Lake is a hamlet in the southern part of Strathcona County, Alberta. It is about 20km south and east of Sherwood Park and east of Edmonton.
It is located on Cooking Lake, one of the largest lakes in the area, and was thus once a popular get-away from the "big city" in the 1930's. The hamlet is quieter now, hosting a fire hall, community church, service station and general store, a community hall, a Catholic Elementary/Junior High School and is home to about 200 people. It is located just north of Highway 14, at approximately Range Road 222. Nearby is the Cooking Lake Airport [1], the only floatplane facility in Alberta.
