South Carolina Department of Natural Resources

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is a South Carolina state agency charged with regulating hunting, fishing, boating, duck stamp orders, state parks and the conservation efforts of the South Carolina state government. It is directed by seven-member Board; a board member is appointed from each of the state's Congressional districts, in addition to one board member-at-large. All board members are appointed by the governor. The board or governor may appoint citizen's advisory panels to provide recommendations on agency programs. The DNR also oversees the state's Soil and Water Conservation Districts, which are contiguous with South Carolina counties, and managed by six-member boards, half of the members of which are appointed through the DNR, the other half being directly elected.
