Sony Open in Hawaii
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sony Open in Hawaii is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It has been played annually in January at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii since the event's inception. The 2006 purse was $5,100,000, with $918,000 going to the winner. This tournament is known for giving female golfer Michelle Wie numerous sponsor's exemptions to play in the event, but she has not made the cut in three attempts (although she missed by only one stroke in her first attempt in 2004).
