Sony Flightstick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sony's FlightStick Analog Controller (SCPH-1110) is Sony's first attempt at an analog controller for the PlayStation, and is the precursor to the Sony "Dual Analog" controller.
[edit] History
Announced to the public in August 1995, [1], The Analog Flightstick was released to the public in Japan in early April 1996 [2].
[edit] Features
The Sony Analog used potentiometer technology previously introduced on consoles such as the Vectrex; instead of relying on simple binary eight-way switches, the controller was capable of minute movements on an entire 360 degree range. The stick also featured a third thumbstick on the right hand side, used for instances when simple digital movements were necessary.
The flightstick's analog mode was brought to the next iteration of Sony's analog controllers, the Sony "Dual Analog".
[edit] Rarity
The Analog Stick had a limited run, and as such is quite rare. Even on sites such as eBay, it is close to impossible to locate the Analog FlightStick.
