The Sony Ericsson Z500a, released in late 2004, is Sony Ericsson's first major carrier backed clamshell through Cingular Wireless and Dobson Cellular.

Original specifications allow Push To Talk walkie talkie functionality. The handset was released before Cingular had rolled out their Push to Talk service.

This is a Camera phone that has motion capture that can send short videos through the Multimedia Messaging System. It operates on GSM850/1800/1900. Cingular has dropped this phone in favor for the updated Z520a.

[edit] Criticisms

There has been many reports of a "blue screen." Durning the use of the phone the screen will just turn blue and not work until unless you remove and replace the battery. The pictures are not of high quality even as phones go.

The speakerphone is weak compared to most other handsets with this feature.

The lack of Bluetooth compared to other phone and lack of available accessories and hand free options is another flaw.
