Sonja Smolec (born 1953 in Pula, Croatia, Yugoslavia) is an artist, writer, and poet. From 1956 to 1985 she lived in Zagreb, and currently resides in Velika Gorica.
Beginning at an early age, Smolec cultivated an interest in writing and painting. While in secondary school, she was active in extracurricular programs which included serving as a student representative within the school's library. Additionally, her writings were occasionally published in school periodicals. Smolec was, at one time, a member of the art group '69', but eventually neglected her interest in painting due to family commitments.
In 2002, "Tajna ima krila", Smolec's imaginative children's book, was published. With an intended audience of children ages six to twelve, the work assumed a unique perspective in terms of how young people see the world. It also incorporates Smolec's paintings.
