Song Ong Siang

Sir Song Ong Siang (b.1871, Singapore-1941) was the first ever Chinese in Singapore/Malaya to be knighted[1] and a member of Singapore's Legislative Council, serving between 1919-1927.

Apart from being a lawyer who had set up his own firm, Song also served as a voluntary preacher and laid the foundation stone for Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. With his friend, Lim Boon Keng, they co-founded the Singapore Chinese Girls' School.[2]
