"Something I Learned Today" is a song by the now defunct Alternative\Punk rock band Hüsker Dü. It is the opening song to their legendary concept album Zen Arcade. It is a fast paced song with a simple verse and chord progession. It is considered to be one of their most well known and popular songs.
[edit] Meaning and style
The song was written by guitarist Bob Mould and is simply about growing up and not trusting many people. The song is one of the faster tracks in contrast to some of the more experimental toned songs. It begins with a simple drum beat, then a simple bass rhythm, and then it finally kicks into the verse riff.
[edit] Trivia
- According to Zen Arcade liner notes, "Something I Learned Today" (along with "Newest Industry") is the only song that was not recorded in one take.
