Something Extra (American musical group)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Something Extra is an all-female a cappella group at Yale University.

The group was founded in 1977 by Lori-Ann Wynter. It made its first appearance at a Zeta Psi Jamboree, donning matching tuxedos. The unprepared MC arrived at the last group of the night, and not knowing what to call the shockingly dressed ensemble, he simply improvised: "And to conclude the night, here's a little something extra." The name managed to stay.

Something Extra's outfits have since given way to the signature SE style of long black gowns and red gloves as its women perform on the set of Jeopardy, at the White House, and through tours in Paris, Jamaica, Milwaukee, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Hawaii, and Brazil. The group also performs on Yale's campus to sold-out audiences twice yearly.
