The Somerset Rebels were founded in 2000 and initially competed in the Conference League. However in 2002 the club moved up into the British Premier League. The Oak Tree Arena was built totally from scratch ready for the 2000 season.

The Rebels have already won three trophies in their short history and came close again in 2006, almnost retaining their Four team Tournament trophy at Workington.
