Nailed in the saw of the same name, near of the Sombreretillo Hill, the Sombrerete city it's to 167 km from the capital of Zacatecas's state. Famous for his prosperous minerals of gold, silver, lead, tin and mercury, Sombrerete it is known also by his great architectural wealth by magnificent churches and old and beautiful buildings constructed during the New Spain.

The principal city of the municipality is Sombrerete City is one of the most important cities in the state, is a colonial city established in 1555 by Juan de Tolosa, is the second city most beautiful in the state after Zacatecas City.

This city is the second most beautiful city in the state, has old churches and places to visit,like:
- The Parochial Temple,
- The Santo Domingo Church,
- The "La Soledad" Church,
- The "La Santa Veracruz" Church,
- The San Francisco Convent,
- The "Tercera Orden" Church (only one in the country for his Renaissance style and his vault in the interior only in Latin America),

- The Rivas de Bracho School.
Near of this city it's "Sierra de Organos" famous place in this place were filmed the Caveman Movie, Bandidas and others classic-Hollywood movies.
