Solstice DiskSuite
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Solstice Disksuite provides software-based RAID for the Solaris operating system.
It is similar in functionality to the FreeBSD vinum toolset and allows metadevices or virtual disks to be concatenated, striped or mirrored together from physical ones. It also supports soft partitioning, dynamic hotsparing, growing metadevices. The mirrors support dirty region logging (DRL, called resync regions in DiskSuite) and logging support for RAID-5. All this functionality has been incorporated into Solaris Volume Manager, default Volume Manager since Solaris 9.
It ships with following versions of Solaris:
- Solaris 2.6 - Solaris Server Intranet Extensions 1.0 (must be ordered separately on server media)
- Solaris 7 - Solaris Easy Access Server 3.0 (must be ordered separately on server media)
- Solaris 8 - Solaris 8 Software 2 of 2 (bundled)
