Solrød is a municipality in Roskilde County on the east coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 40 km², and has a total population of 20,703 (2005). Its mayor is Niels Hörup , a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Solrød Strand. Other towns include Havdrup, Jersie, Jersie Strand, Naurbjerg, and Solrød, which is inland a couple of kilometres.

Neighboring municipalities are Greve to the north, Ramsø and Skovbo to the west, and Køge to the south. To the east is Køge Bay (Køge Bugt).

Solrød municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). The new unicipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").

The municipality is connected by S-Train to central Copenhagen to the north, and to the town of Køge to the south. The Solrød Strand Station is located in the Solrød Center, one of the main shopping areas in the municipality. Travel time to Copenhagen on the train is about a half hour.

There are beautiful beaches along the Køge Bay coast, and the municipality is a popular summer house area. The area attracts both local day visitors and summer vacationers who are interested in boating, beaches and sunshine.

Much of Solrød municipality was developed in the 1970s.
