The Solihull Barons were formed in 2005 although they are named after the Solihull Barons who played in the town (on the same ice) between 1972 and 1996.
Prior to 2005, the team (then called the Milton Keynes Kings) was based in Milton Keynes. Following a dispute with the Planet Ice Arena there, the team relocated to Solihull, where they became Solihull MK Kings for a while. They have now fully settled in Solihull, as the Solihull Barons.
The Barons are lead by Coach Dave Graham who has come into the club and for the 2005/06 season helped the Barons avoid finishing last for the first time in a few years.
