Solid Edge is a 3D parametric feature based Computer-aided design (CAD) software system. It provides solid modeling, assembly modelling and drafting functionality for engineers.

Through 3rd party applications it has links to many other PLM technologies. SolidEdge also comes with ‘’’Insight’’’ , built in PDM and CPD functionality based on Microsoft technologies.

Released in 1996, it was initially developed by Intergraph as one of the first Windows NT based CAD packages, it is now owned and developed by UGS Corp. Its geometric modeling kernel was originally ACIS, but was changed to Parasolid.
