[edit] Biography

Based out of the Washington D.C. area, SOJA has created five releases, producing three under their personal label, Innerloop. SOJA professes its music to contain a "conscious message". Their message continually focuses on present events in and around the Washington D.C. area. [1] In the winter of 1997, SOJA produced their first recording entitled Creeping In. The self-produced 13 song album was independently released. Only 400 cassettes were manufactured, but it received notice in the local reggae scene and Rastafari community. SOJA recorded it’s second, self-titled album, Soldiers of Jah Army with veteran engineer and producer Jim Fox at Lion & Fox Studios in 2000. The band's first full length album and third release Peace in a Time of War was released in 2002. Although written before 9/11, the songs seemed to speak ominously of the events that happened on and after 9/11. In 2005 they released a Dub version of the album titled Dub in a Time of War. [2] They released their third full length album in January 2006 titled Get Wiser.

While the band's dominant music style is reggae, sounds of rock, alternative, and hip-hop can also be heard.
