[edit] Music Career

In 2002, Knowles released her debut single, "Feelin' You", from her debut album, Solo Star, which was released January 21 2003. Solo Star debuted at #49 on the Billboard 200 and #23 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It did not sell well in the US, where it has sold just 60,000 copies. Solo Star was re-released on 14 November 2006.

Solange was also featured on the Destiny's Child's holiday album 8 Days of Christmas (released in October 29 2001), on the track "The Little Drummer Boy" and also on "Proud Family" (included on the special edition and later on the The Proud Family soundtrack album). She is also featured on the Jumpin' Jumpin' (Disney Party Mix).

Solange has also duetted with Kelly Rowland on the title track of her album Simply Deep.

Her second solo album In My Heart featuring the single "Pretty Good", will be released February 2007.[citation needed]

[edit] Personal Life

On February 27, 2004, at the age of 17 years, Knowles married 20 year old Daniel Smith. On October 18, 2004, they had a son named Daniel Julez Smith. Julez, as his mother calls him, made his televison debut on 106 & Park on September 5, 2006.

Solange is also the spokesmodel for The "Dereon" Collection. The "Dereon" Collection focuses on junior styles and sizes and is the sister brand to "House of Dereon", both clothing lines were created by Beyonce and Tina Knowles. She also appeared at the 2006 VMAs.[citation needed]

[edit] Acting Career

Knowles was in Johnson Family Vacation, starring Cedric the Entertainer and also co-starring Vanessa Lynn Williams, Bow Wow, Steve Harvey, and Shannon Elizabeth. The role she plays mentions her older sister's name, but that was already part of the script before she took the role.

She finished working on Bring It On: All or Nothing, which was released on August 8, 2006.
