Talk:Social psychology (disambiguation)

Well, this is different. I'm not sure we needed to establish a new page for this, but I appreciate the direct approach. I mades some changes however...

  • I removed the term "scientific" from the intro as many sociologists do not really think of themselves as scientists.
  • I removed the last paragraph on how there was little connection between the two fields as it seemed to belabor the point.
  • I removed the now unused reference to Allport.
  • I inserted a sentence on "social fabric" after noticing that my sociological friends tend to use that expression frequently.
  • I removed the reference to social cognition as a central endeavor of sociologists since psychologists do far more of this kind of research (google it if you don't believe me).

I also made an attempt to keep the two paragraphs about equal in length and coverage. Jcbutler 20:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

I made a few more edits, including the removal of the "social fabric" sentence after protest on the Social psychology discussion page. I also added a short paragraph on the common ground between sociological and psychologically oriented researchers, again, as a concession to Lucidish's point of view on the social psychology discussion page. It may need some tweaking. Jcbutler 18:28, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
