Soap on a Rope is a webcomic written and drawn by Bob Roberds, and hosted at Keenspot. It began on March 3, 1997 and is currently updated Mondays through Fridays.

Focusing on the lives of Max Slacker and his coworkers and acquaintances, the strip is a serial comedy. Otherwise, it is hard to pin down. It is sometimes set at Max's job (customer support at MCX), but is not a workplace comedy nor geek comedy. It often features visits to parallel universes, encounters with aliens, and/or time travel, but is not sci-fi. It features relationships, but is not romantic comedy. Fans of the strip appreciate the original punchlines and strong stories.

[edit] Allusions

Recurring characters include two aliens who look like a puppeteer and a kzin, from the Known Space works of Larry Niven, though they have none of those species' distinctive psychological qualities.

The strip of August 3, 2006 [1] introduces the Quagaars — borrowed from "Waiting for God", an episode of Red Dwarf, in which they are a figment of Rimmer's imagination.
