Talk:Snowflake (plant)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the classification seem to be wrong: compare interwiki link: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr%C3%BChlings-Knotenblume

This genus appears to be a victim of conflicting classification schemes. ITIS gives the family as Liliaceae but it is included in the Amaryllidaceae article. The Amaryllidaceae is considered to be a separate family by many authors but was once part of the Liliaceae so the classification is less wrong than antiquated. Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy. -- WormRunner | Talk 22:06, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Picture identification

I suspect that the close-up picture of the flowers in the taxo box is the Summer Snowflake, not the Spring Snowflake, as it shows several flowers held close together (rare in L. vernum) and the flowers do not have the characteristic angular "lampshade" shape of L. vernum.
